Assessment Days

2013-14 NCGP Academy

 

The Northumberland County Golf Partnership will be holding FREE assessment days for children aged 10 to 17 to apply to our Academy program for 2013-14.

 

Assessments will be held on Saturday 7th of September at Close House GC and Saturday 14th of September at Linden Hall GC.  These will  both  take  place  in  the  afternoons.

 

Those who qualify will be invited to become a member of the NCGP Academy where they will work with one of our Academy professionals throughout the county.

·         The program for the Academy (14 years of age to 18 years of age) : - This will include skills test day, psychology, course management, nutrition as well as 18 hours of technical coaching and 3 hours of seminars.

·         The Jnr Academy (14 years and under ) : - This will include skills test day and 12 hours of technical coaching.

 

The Academy is aimed at children who are showing potential, they do not have to be a member of a golf club or have a handicap. 

 

2012 -13 Academy members. Those who are not required to attend the assessments will be notified.

Please be aware that assessment times will be published on our website. Allocation of assessment times will be given in the order the application forms are received, every effort will be made to meet requests but can’t be guaranteed.

Formerly known as Club & Coach, the County Academy Programme aims to provide coaching to players above beginner level but below county squad level. Recruitment into the Academy is from schools and clubs, anyone aged 9-15years are welcome to attend our Assessment days.

In order to be able to deliver this coaching, the coaches themselves must be coached and a major part of the CAP is the upskilling of volunteers to PGA Level 1 and to provide CPD for our PGA Professionals.

 

                    

                                   MATFEN  HALL  ACADEMY  DAY

                                            MONDAY   29/10/12

This  day  has  been  put  on  for  Academy  players  to  have  a  enjoyable  day  out, this will consist  of  a  Stableford  Par  3  competition.  Players  will  receive  half  handicap  for  those  without  a  handicap  you  will  be  allocated  shots  on  the  day.  We  have  skills  test  on  the  range,  plus  it  is  an  opportunity  for   parents  to  meet  Jason  Budd  and  Marcus  Webb. 

What  time  do  I  turn  up  to  play?

Any  girls  who  are  going  to  Arcot  Hall  presentation  in  the  afternoon  turn  up  for  9.30.

9.30 – 10.30              14  Years  and  Over.

10.30 – 11.30           12  Years  and  Over.

11.30 – 12.30           Under  12  Years  of  age.

We  are  aiming  to  have  the  day  finished  at  3.00 P.M.  So  Parents  dropping  Children  off  need  to  be  back  by  3.00  P.M.

Matfen  Hall  Academy  Day

29/10/12.

 

We  would  like  to  thank  Matfen  Hall  for  their  hospitably,  the  Par  3  course  was  in  good  condition  and  the  Driving  Range  areas  were  correct  for  the  skills  test.  I  would  like  to  thank  J.J.  Valley  for  sorting  skills  test  and  my  fellow  coaches  Gordon  Morrison,  David  Ord  and  Nikki  Hunter  who  all  helped  starting  off,  helping  on  course  and  with  the  skills  test.  The  day  was  a  success  with  46  pupils  from  the  Academy  attending,  a  few  girls  were  missing  due  to  a  Northumberland  Girls  day  out  had  been  planned  plus  a  few  Clubs  had  Junior  Competitions  on.  The  day  had  been  organized  by  Marcus  Webb  and  Jason  Budd,  the  format  seemed  to  work  well  so  quite  a  few  of  the  parents  could  meet  Coaches  and  Officials.  The  Results  of  the  day.

After a successful couple of years, the Northumberland County Golf Partnership will be holding FREE assessment days for children aged 9 to 15 to apply to our Academy program for 2012-13.

Assessments will be held on Saturday 22nd of September  at  Linden  Hall  and  Saturday 6th of October at Close House GC.  These will  both  take  place  in  the  afternoons.

Those who qualify will be invited to become a member of the NCGP Academy where they will work with one of our Academy professionals throughout the county. The program will include psychology, course management, nutrition as well as 12 hours of technical coaching.

The Academy is aimed at children who are showing potential, they do not have to be a member of a golf club or have a handicap. 

2011 -12 Academy members are asked to complete the application form so that we will have up to date information on handicaps to assist with our decision as to who will be automatically invited back to the Academy and who will have to go through the assessment process. Those who aren’t required to attend the assessments will be notified.
